Speaker, author, teacher, consultant: I teach/consult to financial, tax, and legal professionals about the tax laws that govern IRAs and employer plans
Course Description
The IRS issued its highly anticipated final regulations for required minimum distributions on July 19, 2024. These regulations incorporate rules from SECURE Act and SECURE 2.0 Act.
With these final regulations, the IRS answers many burning questions, including whether designated beneficiaries must take RMDs on an annual basis and whether the 10-year rule is extended. It also explains why the IRS approved certain commentator requests and denied others.
The IRS also published proposed regulations for SECURE Act 2.0 on July 17. These regulations address other RMD-related topics, including the "Spousal Election Under Section 327 of the SECURE 2.0 Act", and “Distributions From Designated Roth Accounts”.
